Spooky Fun and Creative Learning: Our Halloween Week Adventures!

We had an exciting, fun-filled Halloween week! Halloween is always a favourite time of year for children, and our celebrations were packed with treats, crafts, and activities that everyone enjoyed.

The children especially loved pumpkin carving. They explored pumpkins, learned about their sizes, and colours, and even discovered how people use them in making delicious soups. It was a wonderful way to bring a seasonal element into hands-on learning!

The Aistear Curriculum Framework highlights how sensory experiences help children understand the world through their senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound. To support this, we made a Halloween sensory box filled with coloured pasta, feathers, and squishy creatures for the children to explore. We also created orange-scented playdough and offered open-ended craft materials to encourage creativity.

Art activities added even more excitement. The children loved using apple stamps to make pumpkin garlands for our classroom decorations and giggled as we painted their hands to make spider prints. We also made paper plate pumpkins with a fun glueing activity.

It was a memorable week that brought Halloween to life in a creative, educational way!
