Cognitive Assessment for Children

Understanding your child’s cognitive strengths and challenges is crucial for their development. Our comprehensive cognitive assessments provide valuable insights into your child’s learning abilities, memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. Conducted by a qualified Clinical Psychologist, our assessments use gold-standard tools to ensure accurate and reliable results. We work with you to create tailored strategies that support your child’s growth, helping them thrive both at home and in school.

Evaluation Process

Step 1 – Book a Pre-Assessment Consultation
Select a convenient time for the initial consultation, which takes place virtually, with evening and weekend options available. This step ensures we understand your concerns and gather background information while minimising disruption to your family’s routine.

Step 2 – Cognitive Assessment
The full cognitive assessment will be conducted in person at our clinic. This comprehensive evaluation measures your child’s cognitive abilities, including problem-solving, memory, attention, and processing skills. The assessment provides valuable insights into their strengths and areas where additional support may be needed.

Step 3 – Ongoing Support
Following the assessment, you will receive a detailed report outlining your child’s cognitive profile, along with tailored recommendations and strategies to support their learning, development, and overall well-being.

Our Services

Comprehensive Cognitive Assessment

Our cognitive assessment provides a detailed understanding of your child’s thinking and learning abilities. This includes evaluating problem-solving skills, memory, attention, and processing speed. The assessment involves gathering information from multiple sources, including parents and educators, to ensure a well-rounded perspective on your child’s cognitive strengths and areas for development. The evaluation is conducted by an experienced Clinical Psychologist using gold-standard assessment tools.

As part of our assessment process, we use TONI-4, a language-free intelligence test designed for clients aged 6 and older. This non-verbal test requires no reading, writing, speaking, or listening, making it an ideal tool for measuring intelligence, aptitude, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving. The test taker simply points, nods, or blinks to indicate their chosen response, ensuring accessibility for individuals with communication disorders, learning disabilities, or conditions such as intellectual disability, autism, stroke, head injury, or neuropsychological impairment. Additionally, the language-free format accommodates individuals who are not proficient in English.

Individual Support & Guidance

Following the assessment, our team provides personalised recommendations to support your child’s learning and development. This may include strategies for improving focus, memory techniques, or accommodations for school to enhance their educational experience. Our goal is to help your child thrive by offering practical tools that suit their unique needs.

Our Team

Our team includes a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in conducting comprehensive cognitive assessments for children and adolescents. Their expertise ensures a thorough evaluation of cognitive abilities, learning strengths, and potential challenges.

Our assessments and reports are recognised by governing bodies such as the HSE and utilise gold-standard assessment tools to provide accurate and insightful evaluations. This process helps families gain a deep understanding of their child’s cognitive profile and equips them with the necessary strategies to support their development.
